Summary
Malik says the practice among us for a divorced woman whose menstruation stopped when her husband divorced her is that she waits nine months. If she does not menstruate in that time, she observes three months. If she menstruates before completing the three months, she starts afresh with menstruation. If nine months pass before she menstruates, she observes three months; if she menstruates in the third, she has completed her menstrual waiting period. If she does not, she starts three months afresh, and then she is free. Her husband has the right of return before she is free, unless he has given her a final divorce. 1
