Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Nafi' that Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hurayra asked Abdullah ibn Umar about what the sea throws up, and Ibn Umar forbade him to eat it. Nafi' said that Abdullah then turned, called for the codex, and read a verse of Surat al-Ma'ida about the game of the sea and its food, and sent me to Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hurayra to say that there is no harm in eating it. 1
