Overview

The Day of al-Jufar, also called al-Saylam because of the great number slain in it, related by Ibn al-Athir among the days of the Arabs before Islam. 1

What happened

On the anniversary of the Day of al-Nisar the Arabs who witnessed it gathered with their chiefs, and they met at al-Jufar. Tamim held firm, and the killing grew among the Banu Amir, especially among the Banu Amr ibn Tamim. 1

Ibn al-Athir says that Malik ibn Ka'b, known as Jawwab Qanab al-Ir, fled from his two co-wives. He quotes a poem of Bishr ibn Abi Khazim about the band of Tamim. 1

What is not covered here: the number of the slain. The date is approximate.

The Day of al-Nasar

The day of al-Nasar: when Tamim pressed their 'paternal' claims on Dabba and Abd Manat, Dabba raised for the first time the cry 'ya Al Khindif' — the federation-name — and the Rabbab confederates (dipped in rubb-pitch at their pact) joined Asad and Ghatafan under Husayn ibn Hudhayfa; Tamim and Banu Amir broke, their chief Shurayh al-Qushayri fell, and noblewomen of Amir were taken, Salma bint al-Mukhallaf among them.
