Umar II's Da'wa beyond the River and Ibn Ma'mar's Raid

When Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz became caliph, he wrote to the kings of Transoxiana calling them to Islam, and some of them accepted it. ¹

His governor over Khurasan was al-Jarrah ibn Abd Allah al-Hakami. He imprisoned Mukhallad ibn Yazid and the agents of Yazid. ¹

Al-Jarrah sent Abd Allah ibn Ma'mar al-Yashkuri beyond the river. He penetrated deep into the lands of the enemy and considered entering China. The Turks surrounded him until he ransomed himself from them, and he went to al-Shash. ¹

Umar lifted the land tax from those in Khurasan who converted. ¹
