Overview
When Roger of Sicily took Tripoli in Ifriqiya, he left the Muslims in it under his rule. Ibn Khaldun relates that Abu Yahya ibn Matruh, one of the notables of the city, called the leading men to attack the Christians, and they rose against them and burned them. 2
After the rising
Ibn Matruh remained governor of Tripoli until Abd al-Mu'min appointed him over it in 555 AH, sending him there and returning its people to it. 2
The date is approximate, around 548 AH, and the conversion is derived. A second source is needed for the date.
