Overview
In 569 AH a group of supporters of the Ubaydi Fatimids wanted to restore the summons to the house of al-Adid. Salah al-Din learned of it and had them crucified between the two palaces. 2
The plan in Ibn al-Athir
Ibn al-Athir names those who took part: among them the poet Umara al-Yamani, the scribe Abd al-Samad, the judge al-Uwarris, and the chief of the summoners. They were joined by some of the Egyptian troops and the Sudanese, and by the household of the palace. 3
They agreed to call in the Franks with money and lands. If Salah al-Din went out against them, they would rise up in Cairo; if he stayed, they would seize him. 3
The discovery
They brought in the preacher Zayn al-Din Ali ibn Naja. When he learned the truth, he told Salah al-Din, who ordered him to stay with them and to report to him. Then the envoy of the king of the Franks arrived, and the news was confirmed. 3
Salah al-Din seized the leaders and crucified them on the second of Ramadan. The source says that al-Qadi al-Fadil doubted Abd al-Samad, so he charged Ibn Naja with the investigation. 3
