Overview
In 322 AH the men of Mardawij entered Isfahan, and Ali ibn Buya was one of his commanders. He took possession of a large sum of money, then defeated Muhammad ibn Yaqut, the caliph's deputy, and seized Fars. 1
The account
al-Suyuti says that Mardawij sent Ali to extract money from al-Karkh, and he extracted five hundred thousand dirhams. Then he came to Hamadhan, whose people closed the gates, and he fought them and took it by force and killed multitudes, then went to Shiraz. Khurasan and Fars went out from the rule of the caliphate. 1
The reports
al-Suyuti relates reports about the origin of the Buyids, a dream that was interpreted to mean that his sons would rule the world, and treasures that Ali found in Shiraz. These are accounts from a single source, and they need an additional source. 1
