The eight principles of education in the Qur'an and Sunna

Al-Bari draws eight principles of education from the Qur'an and the Sunna: freedom of the servant from intermediaries before God, general equality, the call to knowledge, that creed does not oppose reason, that religion was legislated for human good, freedom of inquiry, shura and counsel, and that deeds are the basis of happiness. His aim is a person who knows his Lord, acts on his knowledge and benefits his community (pp. 8-9). This is the author's own framing.

يستخلص أحمد محمد البري من القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية ثمانية أصول للتربية والتعليم، ويرى أنها تبني إنسانا يعرف ربه ويعمل بعلمه وينفع أمته، وأن التربية الإسلامية تعبدية قبل أن تكون مهنية. ¹ ²

الأصل الأول: التخلية بين العبد وربه

يرى المؤلف أن الإسلام أزال الوسطاء بين الإنسان وربه، وقرر قرب الله من عباده، وأن ذلك حرّر العقل من الخرافات والأوهام. ³

الأصل الثاني: تقرير المساواة العامة

يذكر المؤلف أن المجتمع قبل الإسلام انقسم إلى رجال الدين ورجال الحكومة والعامة، وأن الإسلام قرر أنه لا فضل لعربي على عجمي إلا بالتقوى أو العمل الصالح. ³ ⁴. ويورد أخبارا عن عمر وجبلة بن الأيهم، وخطبة أبي بكر، وينسب إليها دلالة المساواة أمام الشرع، والمؤلف يعرض الأخبار كما يذكرها دون تحقيق لأسانيدها. ⁵

الأصل الثالث: دعوة الإسلام إلى العلم

يرى المؤلف أن الدين لا ينافي العلم بل يحث عليه، وأن الكتاب أورد أسسا ثمانية للمعرفة العلمية من آياته، منها أن يعرف المسلم حدّه وجهله، وألا يأخذ بالظن، وأن يكون مسؤولا عما يسمع ويبصر ويعي. ⁶ ⁷ ⁸

الأصل السادس: حرية البحث والنظر

يذكر المؤلف أن الإسلام أباح النظر والاجتهاد في الأمور الدينية كما أباحه في العقائد، وأن الخلاف الذي نشأ بين الفقهاء كان خلافا سلميا غرضه معرفة الحق. ⁹ ¹⁰. وينسب إلى الشافعي قوله لتلميذه: لا تقلدني في كل ما أقول، وهذه النسبة كما يوردها المؤلف ولم تُراجع بعد. ¹¹

الأصل السابع: الشورى والنصيحة

يرى المؤلف أن الإسلام جعل لكل فرد حق مراقبة الحكومة وإبداء الرأي في الشؤون العامة، وأن الدين النصيحة لله ولرسوله وللمؤمنين، وأن الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر واجب على كل مسلم. ¹² ¹³

الأصل الثامن: العمل مناط السعادة

يقرر المؤلف أن السعادة في الدنيا والآخرة تقوم على الأعمال الشخصية، وأن القرابات والشفاعات لا تغني شيئا لمن لم يأذن الله فيها، ويستشهد بقول النبي لفاطمة: «اعملي يا فاطمة». ¹⁴ ¹⁵
