Overview

Ta'rif is making known and clear; the usulis use it for a definition that includes and excludes, and the jurists in the lexical sense. 1

The gathering on the day of Arafat in towns

Ibn Abbas and Amr ibn Huraith did it in Basra; Ahmad allowed it without recommending it, while Abu Hanifa and Malik disliked it and some called it an innovation. Raising the voice excessively in mosques on that day, or in other kinds of recitation, is disliked. 2 3

Announcing a found thing

Announcing a found thing is obligatory for the three imams, the sounder view for the Shafiis, whether the finder means to own it or keep it; one Shafii view makes it unnecessary when the intention is only to keep it. 3

Identifying the claimed thing and the defendant

Identifying the claimed thing and the defendant is a condition of hearing a claim by agreement, since the purpose of a claim is to bind to a right and a right cannot be enforced on something unknown. 3

Reference

The detail is in the entries on the found thing (luqata) and on claim (da'wa). 3

Adhan (the call to prayer: its ruling, wording, conditions, recommended features and the muezzin)

In law, the adhan is announcing the time of an obligatory prayer in set, transmitted words. The jurists differ on its ruling, between a communal obligation and a strongly recommended practice, and on its wording, tarjia, tathwib, the conditions of order, continuity and raised voice, and the qualities of the muezzin: Islam, manhood, sanity and discernment.
