Overview
The Companions, Successors and those after them studied the transmitters' conditions to tell the truthful from the liar — knowing the best-memorized, the most accurate, and the longest-companioned of those above them; they resorted to history as lying grew common, and some set aside days for speaking of the men 12. The accepted narrator among them: trustworthy, accurate, comprehending, sane, adult, free of the lapses of honor and the sin — if one condition failed, his narration was rejected.
