Overview
Shaykh 'Ali al-Khafif holds the Qur'an the root and foundation, the Sunna subordinate and explanatory, never contradicting it: it details the mujmal — the forms of prayer, zakat, hajj; it qualifies the absolute — bequests limited to non-heirs; it narrows the general — milk-kinship and the aunt/niece excluded from the permitted; and it clarifies the obscure 12. The Qur'an is certain in transmission whole and detailed; the Sunna is probable in detail, so no single hadith is certainly the Prophet ﷺ's unless mutawatir 3. After the Prophet's death the Companions sought rulings in the Book first, then the Sunna.
