Summary
Sha'rawi holds that disbelief is an attempt to hide God's existence, and that one hides only what exists, so the hiding of God is a proof of Him 1 2. See al-Baqara 39.
Hiding and knowing
Cosmic signs
He says the sun, moon, stars, earth, mountains and seas are signs, things beyond human power that God made to serve humanity 2.
Miracles
He holds that God breaks the order of nature through a messenger so that his people know he is sent by God, and that the miracle is meant for those who witness it to strengthen them 2.
The Qur'an as sign
He calls the verses of the Qur'an signs as well: the miraculous speech of God, which holds what confirms the message until the Day of Judgment 2. He cites the people of Pharaoh who denied the signs though certain of them 2 3. See al-Naml 14.
Not yet checked
This is Sha'rawi's reading of the signs. No academic or other-tradition view of the meaning of miracle is set out here, and none is checked.
