Summary
A question about someone who prayed the last rak'a of the sunset prayer with the imam, which the IslamWeb fatwa centre answered according to where he joined. 1
The question
The questioner asked about the ruling for someone who prayed the last rak'a of the sunset prayer with the imam. 1
The answer
The centre answered that if he caught the bowing, he has caught one rak'a and has two left. 1 If he joined the imam after the third bowing, in prostration or the final tashahhud, he completes what he joined with the imam and then prays three rak'as after the imam's closing salutation. 1 It said the different shape of the made-up prayer does no harm, and that he gains the reward of congregation, though less than one who joined from the start. 1
About this record
The IslamWeb fatwa centre published this fatwa as no. 136, dated 8 August 1999. 1 The museum records this answer as a historical text attributed to its author; it issues no ruling of its own.
