A treatise by the researcher 'Abd al-Rahman Muhammad Salih, submitted to al-Azhar al-Sharif in 1356 AH (1937) as part of the specialist-teachers' examination, and published by the Islamic Research Academy in its scholarly series (year six, book six) in 1446 AH (2025), 148 pages. It studies the didactic manuals (mutun) for their educational effect, concluding they remain fit for study when written for their intended audience — while engaging Ibn Khaldun's and al-Hajwi's critiques of the epitomes.
