Overview
The emirate of Banu Jami' of the Hilal, at Gabes, in the time of the Sanhajis. It was held by Bakr ibn Kamil ibn Jami', emir of the Munaqisha of the Dahmān of the Banu Ali, one of the branches of Riyah. 1
Their history
Bakr became autocratic in its affairs and cast off obedience in the year 435 AH (about 1043 CE; the conversion is derived). Tozeur, Qafsa, Sus, al-Hamma, Nafzawa and all the districts of Constantine swore allegiance to him. Ibn Khaldun says that his affair grew strong and his authority great. 1
After him the rule passed to his sons Isa, Rashid, Muhammad and Madafi'. Then they entered the obedience of Abd al-Mu'min the Almohad in 554 AH (about 1159 CE; the conversion is derived), and their affair came to an end. 1
