Summary

Wajhi was a poet of Golconda who composed the Qutb Mushtari, a long poem in Deccani Urdu, in 1609–10, with Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah as hero of a love story with Mushtari, princess of Bengal. 1

His work in context

Mark Zebrowski sets the poem beside Zuhuri's prose at Bijapur as examples of a Deccani literature that praises and idealises rather than records, and thinks a translation would help in understanding Golconda painting. 1 2
