Overview

Umayya ibn Abi al-Salt al-Thaqafi, the poet, who was among those who spoke of divinity before Islam. al-Raheeq al-Makhtum mentions him together with Qass ibn Sa'ida and Zayd ibn Amr, among those whom Quraysh thought the Prophet ﷺ resembled in this respect 2.

In al-Raheeq al-Makhtum (p.77)

al-Raheeq al-Makhtum reports, from Muhammad al-Ghazali, that when news of the secret call (al-da'wa al-sirriyya) reached Quraysh, they paid it no attention. Perhaps they took Muhammad to be one of the pious ones who speak of divinity and its rights, as Umayya ibn Abi al-Salt, Qass ibn Sa'ida, Amr ibn Nufayl and their like did 3 4.
