Overview
Salama ibn al-Harith ibn Amr al-Kindi, the youngest of the sons of al-Harith ibn Amr al-Kindi, of Kinda, and brother of Hujr ibn al-Harith and Shurahbil ibn al-Harith 2.
Rule over Taghlib
His father made him ruler over Taghlib, al-Namir ibn Qasit and the Banu Sa'd ibn Zayd Manat of Tamim. Taghlib drove him out of their lands. He took refuge with Bakr ibn Wa'il, who submitted to him and said that no one but him would rule them. al-Mundhir ibn Imru' al-Qays invited them to obey him, and they refused, and that led to the first day of Awara 2.
The wars with his brothers
After their father's death, in the war with his brothers he marched with Taghlib and the auxiliaries to the water of al-Kilab, and he won the first day of al-Kilab 2.
Notes for researchers
- His dates of birth and death are not given in the museum's data, and the entry needs an additional source. The page title in the museum is "al-Taghlibi", while the name as shown is "al-Kindi"; this may reflect his governorship over Taghlib.
