Roles are dated and sourced; the museum describes the act and attributes the judgement.

    Early life and medicine

He was born on 25 December 1880 at Yusufpur-Mohammadabad in Ghazipur district, into the Ansari family of qazis and zamindars, whom the articles describe as descended from the Sufi saint Abdullah Ansari of Herat, who had come to India with Babur 12. Educated at the Victoria School and then at Hyderabad, he took his medical degree at Madras Medical College and went to England on scholarship, achieving the M.D. and M.S. in 1905 and a Master of Surgery at Edinburgh in 1910 1. He worked at the London Lock Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital, where an Ansari Ward still bears his name, and was an Indian pioneer in surgery 1. In the last decade of his life he performed hundreds of gland-grafting operations in the manner of Steinach and Voronoff and published his findings as Regeneration of Man 1.

    Nationalist career

He attended his first Congress session as a student in 1898 and presided over the Congress at Madras in 1927, serving several terms as general secretary of the All India Congress Committee 1. He helped negotiate the Lucknow Pact of 1916, presided over the Muslim League in 1918 and 1920, led the Indian medical mission to the wounded Turkish soldiers of the Balkan Wars, and in March 1920 led a Khilafat delegation to England that met Lloyd George 1. As League politics turned separatist he drew closer to Gandhi and the Congress; on becoming Congress president in 1927 he spent nearly all his wealth on the movement 1. His Delhi house, Darus Salaam, was a regular base for Congress activity and Gandhi a frequent guest 1.

    The Jamia and his death

Ansari was among the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia and, after the death of its first chancellor Hakim Ajmal Khan in 1927, served as chancellor from 1928 until his own death 13. He died of a heart attack on 10 May 1936, on a train travelling from Mussoorie to Delhi, and is buried within the premises of the Jamia in Delhi 12.

Faith, as the sources attest it

The articles attest his family's claimed descent from the Sufi of Herat, which is family background, and they record his Khilafat advocacy and his presidencies of the League and the Congress, which are politics; no article names a school for Ansari himself, and Wikidata records his religion as Islam only 4. The museum's data record therefore leaves his school unknown and sets out the evidence exactly.
