Overview
Mu'ayyid al-Din Abu Abdallah Muhammad ibn Ali, known as Ibn al-Qassab, deputy vizier of the caliph al-Nasir li-Din Allah. The caliph bestowed on him the vizier's robes of honour in Sha'ban 590 AH. 2
The conquest of Khuzestan
He had earlier held offices in Khuzestan and knew it. He advised the caliph to send him with an army to take it. He reached it in 591 AH, and in Muharram took the city of Tustar, then the fortress of al-Nazir, the fortress of Kakurd, the fortress of al-Amuj and others. 2
He had corresponded with some of the Banu Shamla when they disagreed after the death of their father, and sent them to Baghdad after taking power. 2
