Summary

Iraq ibn Mansur was one of the Afrighid rulers of Khwarazm and the grandfather of Ahmad ibn Muhammad Khwarazmshah. 2 Shohruxmirzo Ismoilov sees in his coins a sign that the rulers of Khwarazm in the late ninth century had begun to adapt to Islamic traditions without yet forgetting their own. 1

His coins

  • Type 1: on the obverse a horse facing right with a swastika sign shaped like the sun above it, as on the fulus of Amir Mikal of 843, and on the reverse in Kufic his name and the title "client of the Commander of the Faithful", with a marginal legend saying this fals was struck in 280 AH. The largest specimen weighs 1.81 g. 1 3 2
  • Type 2, of the same year: the profession of God's oneness on the obverse, his name and title on the reverse; the largest specimen weighs 1.59 g. 2

The author dates type 1 once to 892 and once to 896; the coin itself reads 280 AH. 1 3 2
