Overview
Ibrahim ibn al-Aghlab, founder of the Aghlabid rule in Ifriqiya, according to Futuh al-Buldan. He was among the notables of the army of Egypt. 1
His rise
Al-Baladhuri relates that he sprang up with twelve men, and they took from the treasury only the amount of their stipends, and fled to the Zab. He then gained leadership over the soldiers of that region. He won over Harthama ibn A'yan, who appointed him over his district. 1
Rule over the Maghrib
Harthama advised al-Rashid to win him over, and al-Rashid pardoned him and appointed him over the lands of the Maghrib as a favour. He governed them and kept them in order. 1 See his rule over the Maghrib.
