Education

Summary

Shaykh Taqi al-Din Abu al-Yaqzan Muhammad ibn Khalil al-Hadari, then al-Halabi. His father first worked in trade, and then he himself devoted himself to learning. He studied with Ala al-Din al-Kafiyaji, al-Karmi and al-Marjani, among others. He preached and taught, and he stirred the hearts of his brothers and companions with proof and argument rather than blind imitation 1.

He often called down his prayers against those who shaved their beards. He was upright, with great courtesy. He preached at the Umayyad mosque in the last gathering of the shaykhs. Leadership and the teaching of instruction in Aleppo came to him. He had a student from Rum, sharp and lively in nature, and he stayed with him for months and learned from him 1.

He died in Muharram of the year 913 1.
