    Summary

Ibn Bint al-A'azz, chief qadi of Egypt; he took office in Jumada I 878 and was dismissed in 879 in Ramadan — or it is said he dismissed himself — and confined himself to teaching at the Salihiyya. 1

    His character

Al-Dhahabi said he was a jurist versed in the madhhab, following his father's path of scruple and firmness: of great awe, full dignity, no jesting, kind to the jurists, preferring others, charitable — and his father used to honour him and seek blessing in him. 1
