Shihab al-Din Ibn al-Majdi al-Qarḍi al-Shafiʿi, a scholar. He was born in Cairo in 767 AH, grew up there, and kept company with the scholars of his age. He strove in seeking knowledge until he excelled in jurisprudence, the law of inheritance, arithmetic and Arabic, and took part in many other sciences, such as geometry and the study of the heavens, in which he surpassed the people of his age and stood alone. He kept on constantly with study and with his duties. He wrote many famous works, among them a commentary on "al-ʿAbqariyya" on inheritance.
He died on the night of Saturday, the eleventh of Dhu al-Qaʿda 850 AH 1.
