Overview
Al-Kindahari, that is Henry, Count of Champagne. Ibn al-Athir's account says that he was the nephew of the king of France on his father's side and the nephew of the king of England on his mother's side. 1
He became lord of Tyre after the killing of the Marquis in 588 AH, and married the queen on the night of his arrival, while she was pregnant. He ruled the Frankish lands of the coast after the king of England returned. Ibn al-Athir describes him as wise and very patient and tolerant. 1
He sent to Salah al-Din asking for a robe of honour, and said that wearing the qaba' and the shirbush was considered a fault among them, and that he would wear them out of love for him. Salah al-Din sent him a robe of honour, and he wore it at Acre. 1
He died in 594 AH, according to Ibn al-Athir, when he fell from a roof. 1
