Overview
Harun ibn Khumarawayh, brother of Jaysh ibn Khumarawayh. Al-Mas'udi reports that he was set up in place of his brother over Egypt in 283 AH, when Jaysh was arrested after a riot in which Ali ibn Ahmad al-Mardani was killed. The soldiers had resented Jaysh's promotion of his servant Najah, known as al-Tulunī. 2
In Ibn al-Jawzi
Ibn al-Jawzi reports that after his brother Jaysh was killed in 282 AH, they had him seated, and it was settled that one million five hundred thousand dinars would be carried to the treasury of al-Mu'tadid each year. When al-Muktafi came to power, he removed him and appointed Ahmad ibn Sulayman al-Wathiqi, who took the wealth of the house of Tulun, and that was the end of their affairs. 3
