Overview
Genghis Khan, khan of the Tatars, whose name before he became king was Temujin. Al-Suyuti reports that he stood in the place of his cousin, the ruler of one of the six kingdoms of China, and many Mongols joined him. He then allied with Kashlukhan, and together they defeated the Great Khan and took his lands. He then took the command for himself and the Tatars submitted to him. 2
His revolt against the Khwarazm Shah
Their first movement was in 606 AH, towards the lands of the Turks and Fergana. He sent envoys and gifts to the Khwarazm Shah seeking peace. When the Khwarazm Shah betrayed the merchants and killed the envoys, he marched against him and destroyed his kingdom. 2
His death
Ibn al-Imad mentions that he died in Ramadan 624 AH, a few days before the encounter with Jalal al-Din. He describes him as the tyrant of the Tatars and their supreme sultan, and says that he was the grandfather of Baraka and Hulagu. This is Ibn al-Imad's judgement, and in his words he died in unbelief. 3
