Summary
'Ali b. al-Hasan b. Musa b. Maysara al-Hilali al-Nisaburi al-Dirabjirdi, among Nishapur's greatest scholars and sons of scholars; he had a noted mosque at Dirabjird where prayer was sought for blessing. He heard Abu 'Asim al-Nabil, Sulayman b. Harb, Ya'la b. 'Ubayd, Abu Nu'aym and many; al-Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Khuzayma and others transmitted from him. 2
His death
He died in 267, and reports differ: it was said he was found dead a week after his death in his mosque; and it was said he had rebuked the tax-officer, who when night fell had him shut in his house with a fire lit in the straw — he died of the smoke and was found with worms having eaten his eyes. 2
