Overview
Al-Wathiq Abu Dabbus, Abu al-Ala Idris ibn Abi Abd Allah Yusuf ibn Abd al-Mu'min, known as Abu Dabbus. Ibn Khallikan describes him as the last of the Almohad caliphs of the Banu Abd al-Mu'min. 2
His reign
He entered Marrakesh on the twenty-first of Muharram 665 AH. Al-Murtada fled to Azmur, where his governor seized him and killed him in a place called Kutama. Al-Wathiq reigned three years. 2
He was killed in the war between him and the Banu Marin, the kings of Tlemcen, in Muharram 668 AH, at a place three days' journey north of Marrakesh. The state of the Banu Abd al-Mu'min then came to an end, and the Banu Marin took its kingship. 2
The Gregorian year of his death in the museum's data is approximate and derived, and needs an additional source.
