Overview
Al-Walid ibn Tarif al-Shari, a Kharijite from al-Jazira in the days of Harun al-Rashid. He rose in 178 AH and his affair grew great, so al-Rashid sent Yazid ibn Mazyad al-Shaybani against him. He was killed in his rising, and his sister al-Fari'a lamented him with poems. 2
Ahmad Amin says that Ibn al-Samʿani and Ibn Khallikan call him a Shaybani, and Ibn al-Athir calls him a Taghlibi. 2 See his revolt.
The death date (about 794 CE) is derived from the Hijri date.
