Overview

Al-Qadi al-Rashid Abu Ishaq Ibrahim b. Ahmad b. al-Husayn Ibn al-Zubayr al-Ghassani al-Aswani; of the people of excellence, brilliance and leadership — he wrote the Kitab al-jinan naming a company of famous excellent men, and has the Kitab al-'aja'ib, al-turaf, al-hadaya and al-tuhaf, and a diwan. 1

Office and end

He held the inspectorate at Alexandria's frontier in the sultanic diwans — not by his choice — in 559, then was killed unjustly; Ibn Khallikan said: al-Rashid was unique in his era in geometry, mathematics, the religious sciences and poetic adab. 1
