Overview

The journey and the book
The sources say that he travelled the regions and measured their extents in farsakhs, and spent more than ten thousand dirhams on his journeys. He lived in neighbourhood with others, fought, and garrisoned the frontiers. 3
Al-Muqaddasi himself describes his book as not written at random nor relying on hearsay, but that he left the caravans to see each town for himself. 4
