Overview
Abu Zakariyya Yahya b. al-Nasir Muhammad b. Ya'qub the Almohad, surnamed al-Mu'tadid; the people of Marrakesh chose him for the caliphate after the deposed 'Abd al-Wahid — within days Abu'l-'Ala' Idris claimed the caliphate at Seville and al-Andalus swore to him; Yahya besieged him at Marrakesh, then his men broke and the townspeople drove him out, deeming him ill-omened; he sought refuge with a people in a fort near Tlemcen — a mamluk of theirs who held a blood-feud against his father stabbed and killed him. 1
