Overview
Ja'far al-Mufawwid ila Allah ibn al-Mu'tamid, the heir apparent of his father. 1
The heirship and its loss
His father made him his heir apparent, gave him Egypt and the Maghrib, and titled him al-Mufawwid ila Allah. Then in 279 AH he deposed him in a public session, and gave the allegiance to Abu al-Abbas ibn al-Muwaffaq, who was titled al-Mu'tadid. 1
According to al-Mas'udi, his father installed him as successor when he camped with al-Qa'im for the war with Ya'qub al-Saffar. Then Isma'il ibn Bulbul brought him with al-Mu'tadid to Baghdad in a litter, and al-Mu'tadid deposed him when he took his father's place. 2
