Overview

Al-Mu'addal ibn Ali ibn al-Layth al-Saffar, the last of the Saffarid amirs in Sistan. 1

Captivity

The Samanid army under al-Husayn ibn Ali (may God be pleased with him) al-Marwarudhi besieged him in 298 AH. He made peace with them and asked for safe conduct, and they took him captive to Bukhara with them. 1

The Amir Ahmad ibn Isma'il ordered that he and Sabkari be carried to Baghdad, and they were brought in, famously, on two elephants. 1
