Overview

Al-Khafaji, the brother of the caliph al-Mustansir billah. Al-Suyuti describes him as having exceptional spirit, and relates that he used to say: "If I become caliph I will take the armies across the river Jayhun and take the lands out of the hands of the Tatars." When al-Mustansir died, al-Duwaydar and al-Sharabi did not give him the appointment out of fear of him, so they set up al-Mustansir's son Ahmad, because he was soft and weak in judgement, so that the affair would be theirs. 1

His personal name and his years of life are not recorded in the museum's data, and need an additional source.
