Overview

Al-Hasan b. 'Ali b. Yahya b. Tamim b. al-Mu'izz b. Badis, last Zirid king of Ifriqiya; he ruled at twelve years nine months. In his days Roger the Frank, lord of Sicily, took Tripoli of the West by the sword on 6 Muharram 541, then took al-Mahdiyya in Safar 543 — al-Hasan fled it carrying what treasures were light to bear, lodging with Mihriz b. Ziyad, an Arab amir at al-Mu'allaqa; then Bougie's lord plotted treachery so he moved to Algiers and dwelt there until 'Abd al-Mu'min took Bougie in 547 — and thus the Banu Badis dynasty died out after two hundred and eight years. 1
