Overview
Abu 'Abdallah Muhammad b. Abi'l-'Abbas al-Sa'idi al-Farawi of Nishapur, surnamed Kamal al-Din, jurist and muhaddith; raised among the sufis, he was a jurist-transmitter, versatile, a debater and preacher who carried food to travellers arriving upon him and served them himself despite his great age. 1
His transmission
He heard Sahih Muslim from 'Abd al-Ghafir al-Farisi and Sahih al-Bukhari from Sa'id b. Abi Sa'id, and heard from al-Shirazi, the hafiz al-Bayhaqi, al-Qushayri and the Imam al-Haramayn; he uniquely transmitted several works of al-Bayhaqi — Dala'il al-nubuwwa and al-Asma' wa'l-sifat among them. It was said of him: "al-Farawi — a thousand transmitters." 1
