The fall of al-Hadr

Al-Mas'udi describes him as having many soldiers, a truce-maker with the Romans and inclined to them, and says that his men raided Iraq and the Sawad. He took refuge in al-Hadr when Shapur came against him with troops, and his daughter al-Nadira showed the way to its capture. Shapur killed him and those with him and demolished the fortress. 2
