With Ahmad b. Hanbal

His nephew related that his uncle Abu Ibrahim went to greet Ahmad b. Hanbal — when Ahmad saw him he rose standing and honoured him; when he had gone his son 'Abdallah said, "father — Abu Ibrahim is a youth, and you do this for him and rise?" He said: "my son, do not gainsay me in such a thing — should I not rise for the son of 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf?" He died in 273. 1
