Overview
Ahmad ibn Abd Allah ibn Salam, a client of the caliph Harun al-Rashid. Ibn al-Nadim mentions him in the "Fihrist" as a translator. 1
The translations
Ibn al-Nadim says he translated the "Book of the Hanifs" from the Sabians of Ibrahim, and translated its opening, the scrolls, the Torah, the Gospel, and the books of the prophets and disciples from Hebrew, Greek and Sabian into Arabic. He describes his translation as word for word, without any polishing or embellishment, for fear of distortion. 1
The years of his birth and death are not set out here and need an additional source.
