His books
Ibn al-Nadim attributes to him the book "al-Tafsir", which he composed when al-Tabari composed his book, and "al-Masabih fi al-Hadith", "al-Masahif", "Nazm al-Qur'an", "Fada'il al-Qur'an", "Shari'at al-Tafsir", "al-Nasikh wa al-Mansukh", and "al-Ba'th wa al-Nushur". 2
An account with the vizier
Al-Suyuti relates that the vizier Ali ibn Isa wished to reconcile him with Ibn Sa'id, and they exchanged sharp words. Then Ibn Abi Dawud said that he would never take anything from the vizier's hand. When al-Muqtadir heard of it, he began to weigh his stipend with his own hand and send it to him on a tray with the servant. 3
The report is from al-Suyuti alone and needs an additional source.
