Overview

Apollonius, author of the book of the Conics, who was from Alexandria. 2

The sons of Musa said that his book had been corrupted because it was hard to copy and its correction was neglected, so it was scattered among people until a man appeared at Ascalon named Utukyus, who gathered what he could of it and corrected four discourses. 2

The book has eight discourses, and seven survive with part of the eighth. Hilal ibn Abi Hilal al-Himsi translated the first four before Ahmad ibn Musa, and Thabit ibn Qurra al-Harrani translated the last three. 2
