Overview
Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Umawi, the eighth of the Umayyad amirs in Cordoba, who ruled from 275 to 300 AH, about twenty-five years. 2
Al-Maqqari, quoting Ibn Khaldun, says that the revenue of al-Andalus before him had been three hundred thousand dinars: a hundred thousand for the armies, a hundred thousand for the expenses of calamities, and a hundred thousand in reserve. He spent the reserve when the regions of al-Andalus were in turmoil with rebels and usurpers, and the revenue fell. 3
Al-Maqqari gives some of his verse, and says that he wrote a lampoon to his vizier al-Nadr ibn Salama when he did not like his opinion. 4
