«مرها فلتغتسل، ثم لتهل»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first hadith in the Book of Pilgrimage and in the chapter on ritual washing for entering ihram. Malik transmits from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, from Asma bint Umays, that she gave birth to Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr at al-Bayda; Abu Bakr mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: order her to wash, then enter ihram. The editor notes that the hadith is relayed in the view of most Muwatta transmitters; some of them said 'from Asma that she gave birth'; and that Muslim transmitted it through a route from Aisha mentioning post-natal bleeding. 1
