Summary
Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) came upon Jabir ibn Abdallah carrying meat. He said: what is this? Jabir said: Commander of the Faithful, we craved meat, so I bought some meat for a dirham. Umar said: does not one of you want to empty his belly against his neighbour or his cousin? He cited the verse of Surah al-Ahqaf about the good things that are used up in the life of this world. 1
