Summary
Malik said of a contract slave owed ten thousand dirhams by his master, whom his master remits a thousand dirhams of at his death: the contract slave is valued and one looks at his value. If his value is a thousand dirhams, the remitted part is a tenth of the contract, which in value is a hundred dirhams, and it comes to a tenth of the value in cash. If the master did that, only the value of the contract slave is counted in the dead man's third; and if the remitted part was half the contract, half of the value is counted. 1
