Summary
Malik said: it is not lawful for a contract slave to free his slave without his master's permission. If the master permits it, and then the contract slave is freed, the clientage belongs to the contract slave. If the contract slave dies before he is freed, the clientage of the freed slave belongs to the master of the contract slave, and if the freed slave dies before the contract slave is freed, the master of the contract slave inherits him. 1
