Summary
Malik transmits from Abu al-Zinad, from Said ibn al-Musayyab, that he used to say: it was forbidden to sell an animal for meat. Abu al-Zinad said: I asked Said ibn al-Musayyab: what do you say about a man who bought a she-camel for ten sheep? Said said: if he bought it to slaughter it, there is no good in that. Abu al-Zinad said: everyone I met among the people forbade selling an animal for meat, and that was written in the letters of the governors in the time of Aban ibn Uthman and Hisham ibn Ismail, who forbade it. 1
